How To Revive Wilted Greens
Letting food go to waste should be avoided at all costs, and this episode of the show is all about getting the longest shelf-life possible from your perishables. Today on The Marc and Mandy Show, Irene Ngo, Head of Culinary at Hello Fresh, shows us how to revive wilted greens to allow your groceries to last a little longer.
Greens With a Stem
For greens with a stem, (such as kale, collard greens, and chard) an easy way to revive it is by treating it the way you would cut flowers. Simply cut an inch or so off the bottom of the stem, and place it in a glass of water. You should start to see results in the leaves in a few hours.
Leafy Greens
Think: arugula, spinach, or spring lettuce. To revive this group of greens, simply submerge them in a bowl of ice cold water, and let it sit for about 15 to 20 minutes. After the leaves have soaked in water for 15 to 20 minutes, gently pat them dry with paper towels, and they should be nice and crisp and ready to eat.
